An illegal gas installer who claimed to be registered has been fined £8,000 after installing gas appliances at a property in East London. The illegal gas installer pretended to be registered and carried out gas work while not being registered in order to earn some money. The court heard that the gas fitter knew he was operating illegally as he was refused after trying to become registered only months before this. After being prosecuted for being an illegal gas fitter and pleading guilty he was issued with a fine of £8,000 and ordered to pay costs of £2,097.50.
